Introducing Task Mind Maps

Many of you have been asking us the same question about the tasks in your maps: ‘will I get an email notification?’ That’s how we realized that you rely on Mindomo to help you follow up to-dos and get things done. So, we developed a new type of mind map to meet your task management needs. Here’s what you’ll get if you start using our task maps:

  • Flexible task management. Just drag and drop tasks to reorganize them from one list to another.
  • Tasks and subtasks are organized hierarchically. This gives you a clear picture of all tasks and their priority.
  • Both you and your collaborators receive email notifications when tasks are completed or updated.
  • You can use the drill-down feature to temporarily hide some of the information to focus on a certain task list.
  • You can quickly set deadlines and assign tasks to your collaborators.
  • You can expand and collapse information to get a detailed or bird’s eye view of your work.
  • Wider, uncluttered map canvas will give you more space for your data.

A task map is not just for tracking task ideas, it’s the central spot for organizing and monitoring your to-dos.
Like always, we’re looking forward to your feedback. If you have any suggestions on how we can improve this new functionality, feel free to share them in the comments section below.

Concept Mapping Reimagined

It’s that time of the year that calls for making gifts and celebration. Speaking of which, we got you a present. Something special that will let you:

Label the lines between topics

Whenever you add a new topic in your concept map, you can instantly explain how it’s linked to the previous one. Your maps will make perfect sense both for you and the people you share them with.

Create multiple connections between topics easily

As your map builds up, you’ll probably see connections you didn’t think before. So click on a topic, drag the connecting line and drop it onto the linking topic. Once you label it, your new connection is out in the open.

Position topics freely

Build your concept map without any layout restrictions. Topics can be easily moved anywhere on the map canvas simply by dragging them. Organize your map as you see best.

Yes, you got it right, we reimagined concept mapping for you. That’s because we wanted to thank you for your constant support and for staying with us in the long run. Enjoy your holiday and see you in 2016!

New Updates Ready For A New School Year

Just to make sure you have everything you need to kick-start this new school year, we spent the entire summer vacation working on some cool updates:

1. Playback feature: your own magnifying glass to see who did what on any mind map. Use it to see who has been working on the map, all their individual contributions and the time they were made. With this new feature, assessing students’ work on collaborative mind maps will be a piece of cake.

2. Courses transformed into Assignments. Why? The Resources and Notes sections in a Course were less used. So we removed them, making everything more straightforward. Still, nothing has changed in the way you build and share your mind map assignments:

– students maps are instantly shared with the teacher from the moment students start their assignments
– students share opinions and learn from each other on collaborative assignments
– teachers can share assignments with other teachers that might be covering their classes
– student maps are easier to reach since they are grouped on assignments
– assignments can be duplicated
– one can create student accounts without email

3. Google Classroom integration: bring all your predefined Google Classes into Mindomo to share your mind map assignments easier.

4. itslearning integration: yet another LMS from which you can  work with Mindomo directly, no additional login required. Check out the guidelines for this integration.

5. Office 365 integration: schools and also organizations can add Mindomo to their Office 365 accounts. This way all users on their accounts will be able to work with Mindomo directly from there. Guidelines for this integration here.

Mindomo makes a run at being the best mind mapping solution for you, so feel free to share your feedback and suggestions in the comments section below.

What Do You Think of Your New Mindomo Dashboard?

We’re constantly looking for ways to optimize your experience with Mindomo. That’s why we recently merged the two dashboards: Maps and Projects/Courses (depending whether you have a business or educational account).

Just take a look at some of the most important changes:

quickly build folders and projects/courses by clicking on ‘Create’

– organize maps that were shared with you. Move them from the ‘Shared with me’ folder into any of your folders.

– previously you searched for maps in the left-sided folders, and for project/courses in the top side of the page. Now all maps, folders, projects/courses are listed in the main side of the dashboard.

– you can access other relevant categories from the right side of the dashboard: the smart map templates, bookmarks, documents, recycle bin, archived projects or courses.

Of course, it’s for you to decide just how convenient these changes are. Is it easier for you to work in Mindomo now? Looking forward to your feedback!

Getting Things Done in a World of Rapid Change

Our world has been experiencing change since the beginning. We are used to changing schools and work environments. We meet new people and face new challenges almost every day.  Change is natural. And it had a natural pace until the beginning of the 20th century. Since then, change is speeding up.
Today’s unanimous anxiety, mostly caused by the emerging technological advances, is that you seem to have difficulties keeping up with everything you need to learn and do.

The pressure of overload can be tremendous at times. Rupert Murdoch’s quote inspired us with a possible solution to this problem: “the world is changing very fast. Big will not beat small anymore. It will be the fast beating the slow.”

What if you began thinking and working faster?

Would this help you save time for personal enlightenment? We at Mindomo certainly think so, that’s why we use 3 easy but efficient tricks:

  1. Rely heavily on The Focusing Question – “What’s the ONE Thing I could do, such that by doing it everything else would be easier or unnecessary?”.
  2. We avoid “false hustle”  as much as we can. This helps us pursue our weekly/monthly/year end goals.
  3. Save time and energy by making lists.  That’s how we see the clear steps for resolving any complex challenge, and how each step should connect with the next.
You should find the strategy that works best for you and speed things up.
In the meantime, for all of you who use Mindomo on a regular basis, we have some great news. We updated our mobile app so you can get things done more efficiently:
Mind map faster. We redesigned the UI from scratch.  Clean, open spaces for maps; bright colors and intuitive, easier-to-reach icons will make mind mapping feel more natural than before.Sync maps with cloud faster. You are now 2 clicks away from moving your local maps to your online account.

Log in faster. If you are logged into Google, Facebook or Yahoo, you can automatically log into Mindomo.

If you have any tips for improving productivity or feedback on our new mobile app, feel free to share this with us in the comments section below.
